Phil West
R&D Lead
Phil joined Quick Release in 2015 and began his career deep in the PDM trenches, managing BoMs and acting as a bridge between engineering and operations for production vehicles — experiences that gave him a grounding in how data, decisions, and delivery really interact on complex programmes.
After moving into consulting in 2017, Phil spent several years leading projects and developing internal capability. Alongside client delivery, he became known for building clear, pragmatic models to help teams reason through complexity; enabling informed decisions by modelling resource, throughput, error patterns and other KPIs.
A part-time MSc in Data Analytics (completed in 2022) and a period co-running the Alten innovation lab helped shape Phil's approach to AI: grounded in an understanding of how the underlying mechanics work, and sceptical of solutions that promise magic without doing the hard work of integration and change.
Now Quick Release's R&D Lead, Phil focuses on how AI can be applied thoughtfully in product development and operations — driving applied client exploration, internal experimentation and training across the business. His emphasis is on minimum-complexity solutions that combine automation, AI, and human judgement in the right proportions to solve real problems sustainably.
Phil is particularly interested in combining rigorous data analysis with an honest understanding of organisational change, and in designing solutions that are modular, scalable, and grounded in how people actually work.
Outside the office, Phil gravitates toward human-powered movement in whatever form he can — bike-touring, skateboarding, roller blading and occasionally unicycling.

Robert Ferrone
Founder, and Senior Advisor
In 2000 Robert identified a systemic issue within the Engineering and Manufacturing industry; a large amount of valuable resource time was being wasted on inefficient execution of the business bureaucracy necessary to get products designed and made. Product launches were over budget and being delayed. Robert made it his mission to make people, processes and systems work in harmony with each other so that everyone had the information they needed in the format they needed to do their job effectively, from Engineers to Programme Director level.
As demand for this unique, system-agnostic service grew, Robert created Quick Release_ with his business partner Adam Grant, and set about growing a talented army of Product Data Management professionals whilst creating the unique QR approach for improving the industry one client at a time. Robert resides in Germany and will often be one of the first people involved in a new engagement.
