In the automotive sector, we’re all used to having company cars, usually on an excellent company car scheme. At Quick Release, we felt we should do the same but felt we needed a vehicle which reflected our Quick Response attitude and could carry our team from the centre of Cologne to Merkenich each day.
The answer was obvious. A 1975 Volvo C303 4×4 military vehicle, in traditional military green. It’s purposeful, go-anywhere, and can reliably carry the troops into battle against misaligned product data every day.
This model went into production in 1974 as both a 4×4 and a 6×6 and an 8×8 was even mooted but never built. We felt 4×4 was probably sufficient for the well paved Cologne region, where its fantastic off road performance may not be stretched. In 1983 a Volvo C303 even won the class for trucks under 10 tonnes in the Paris-Dakar rally, so sufficiently quick to warrant the ‘Quick Response_ Unit’ now emblazoned on its side.
